What is the Chapter Opportunity Fund?
The Manual for Region Operations (a great summertime read for those who haven't had the pleasure) defines the purpose of the fund as "to promote chapter investment in a meaningful and expedient way to energize their members and improve their communities by demonstrating the impact of ASHRAE."
We would suggest your chapter fill out the form if you have an idea that would energize our chapter or imrpove your communiuty by demonstrating the impact of ASHRAE.
Guidelines
Per the Manual for Region Operations the funds are assigned at the discretion of the DRC, are not required to be evenly distributed, and the "decision of the DRC shall be considered final and not subject to appeal." Following are example guidelines:
Chapter Opportunity Fund Guidelines

Funds are to be utilized at the chapter level only, not for regional activities.

Funds are not to directly benefit the chapter financially

Funds are not to be used as seed money for fundraising events or activities.

Funds are not to be used as scholarship awards, research promotion donations, or as an investment in another fund.

Funds are not to be donated to other organizations or other organization’s special events.

Funds shall not be used to promote or participate any actions that are not consistent with ASHRAE’s mission and vision or in violation of ASHRAE’s code of conduct.
